Mitsuo Takeda Named OSA Emmett N. Leith Medal Winner
Date:Mar 13, 2020    Author:

Recently, Professor Mitsuo Takeda ofthe iCORE has been selected as the 2020 recipient of The Optical Society (OSA) Emmett N. Leith Medal, which honor shows his outstanding contribution in the field of optical information processing and coherence holography.

The Fourier fringe analysis and holographic technology invented by Professor Mitsuo Takeda are not only widely used in the field of optical information processing and holographic technology, including traditional optical interferometry, coherence holography, speckle technology, coherent synthesis, unconventional imaging and 3D contour measurement of objects, but also used in ultra short optical pulse, minimum atomic displacement and unconventional interference measurement and electronic wave measurement X-ray and EUV sources also have pioneering applications in the measurement of extreme physical phenomena.

The Optical Society (OSA) set up the Emmett N. Leith medal to honor the world-renowned scientist in holography and optical information processing. Leith was a pioneer of coherent optics in radar systems and is credited with developing modern holography in the early 1960s. This award recognizes seminal contributions to the field of optical information processing.
