Date:May 26, 2018    Author:

With the invitation of college of Opto-Electronics, associate professor Qian Kemao from Nanyang Technology University in Singapore made an academic report on "Fringe Pattern Analysis Techniques: an Overview" for the teachers and students of college of Opto-Electronics at room 6-402 at 10:00 a.m. on June 6, 2018. The report was hosted by professor Tian Ailing from college of Opto-Electronics.

Associate Professor Qian Kemao briefly introduced the application of optical interference in experimental mechanics, correlation phase shifting method and Fourier transform method for calculating phase wrapping and method and strategy of unwrapping phase. The principle of windowed Fourier transform and the process of solving phase were elaborated in detail. Associate Professor Qian Kemao showed the latest achievements of the study to the teachers and students in a deep and simple way, and they had adequate communication and discussion after his report. This academic report win unanimous approval and praise from every teachers and students.

Main research topics of associate Professor Qian Kemao are optical metrology, image processing, parallel computing and computer vision. He has published more than 80 academic papers, specializing in "Windowed Fringe Pattern Analysis" and "GPU Acceleration for Optical Measurement". He serves as associate editor of "Optics and Lasers in Engineering", director of Singapore optical society, and SPIE member of the international optical society.
